Mint is the flavour most UK pouch users reach for, and it's also where the labels get confusing: cool, ice, frosted, fresh, spearmint, menthol. This guide sorts the mints we stock by style and by strength, from 1.5mg to 17mg, with the price per can. You can find the mint that matches what you already use, then change one thing at a time if you want something different.
Quick answer: For most existing users, a 6–11mg mint is the sweet spot. Try 9mg ZYN Strong Cool Mint (£4.19) for a crisp, cool peppermint-style mint, or 10.2mg Pablo Silver Spearmint (£3.79) for something softer and sweeter. If you're already used to stronger pouches, 13.2mg Killa Frosted Mint (£3.79) brings heavy cooling at a step-up strength.
Mint styles explained: spearmint, peppermint, ice and menthol
Mint pouches fall into a handful of rough styles: cool mint, peppermint, spearmint, ice (also sold as cold, frosted or freeze) and fresh or sweet mint. There are also mint-fruit hybrids. The style tells you how sharp, sweet or cold the pouch will feel. The mg on the can tells you how much nicotine it contains.

Mint's popularity shows up in the data. In a UK survey of adults run in May and June 2024, 60.7% of people who had ever used nicotine pouches had used mint or menthol flavours. That compares with 29.2% for tobacco and 25.5% for fruit, and people could pick more than one (East, Tattan-Birch and Taylor, PLOS ONE, October 2025). Our guess is that familiarity does a lot of the work. Most of us have been using minty toothpaste and chewing gum for years.
- Cool mint: usually peppermint plus menthol. ZYN UK describes its Cool Mint as "cool fresh peppermint and menthol".
- Peppermint: sharper and colder, because peppermint oil is naturally high in menthol.
- Spearmint: softer, rounder and sweeter, with very little menthol.
- Ice, cold, frosted and freeze: names that signal heavier cooling. The chill may come from menthol or from a synthetic coolant, and most brands don't publish which they use.
- Fresh, sweet and plain mint: pouches sold simply as fresh, wild, sweet or plain mint. The style here comes from the product name rather than a manufacturer spec, so treat it as a rough guide.
- Mint-fruit hybrids: mint paired with apple, peach, melon or watermelon. These get their own section below.
We've only counted a pouch as a mint if "mint", "spearmint", "peppermint" or "menthol" is in its name. Plenty of "Arctic", "Cold Dry" and "Ice Cool" pouches might taste minty, but without a manufacturer description we haven't listed them here. For cola, fruit and other flavour families, see our guide to the best nicotine pouch flavours.
Mint vs menthol: what the label means
Mint and menthol aren't the same thing in nicotine pouches. "Mint" is the flavour. Menthol is a single compound that triggers the body's cold receptor (TRPM8), which is why it feels cool. So a menthol pouch is always cooling, but a mint pouch isn't necessarily heavy on menthol.
Synthetic coolants such as WS-3 and WS-23 act on that same cold receptor but have almost no smell (PMC12776481). That research looks at vapes, but the receptor chemistry is the same. It explains why an "ice" pouch can feel very cold without tasting especially minty.
Some pouches spell out their flavour. ZYN describes its 13.5mg Menthol Ice as having an "intense cooling taste of eucalyptus and menthol". Most brands don't say what's behind the chill, so we won't guess.
The mint strength ladder: 1.5mg to 17mg
The mints we stock run from 1.5mg to 17mg per pouch below the 20mg mark, priced between £1.99 and £4.29 a can. The table lists our main mint range by strength, with its mint style, pouch format where the manufacturer confirms it, and price per can.

ZYN's own strength labels don't always match the names in our product titles, so go by the mg rather than words like "Medium" or "Strong". Our ZYN strengths guide explains how ZYN's labels map to mg.
20mg and above: we also stock Garant Extreme Edition Mint (22mg), Garant Ice Extreme Cool Mint and Zeus Mint Rage (both 25mg), Pablo Exclusive Frosted Mint (30mg), and Aroma Attention Peppermint, Aroma Attention Spearmint and Iceberg Sweet Mint (all 35mg). These are only for people already used to strong pouches, and nausea is more likely at high strengths. If that's you, our strongest nicotine pouches page and our ranking of every 20mg+ pouch we stock cover them properly.
Mini vs regular mint pouches
A mini pouch is simply a smaller, more discreet pouch. ZYN and 77 are the brands here whose pouch format we've confirmed from the manufacturer; 77 lists Fresh Mint as slim, 20 to a can (77pouches.com). ZYN Mini pouches measure 13mm × 28mm and are dry, while ZYN Regular pouches are 14mm × 34mm and moist (zyn.com). ZYN describes the tingle as "mild" for Mini and "lively" for Regular. For other brands, check the can.
Price per can and multi-buy
Mint prices fall into five bands. RUSH Pro Green Mint is £1.99 a can. Pablo and Killa are £3.79. 77, Denssi, Garant, Camo and Aroma Essence are £3.99. ZYN is £4.19, and Zeus, Snü, Havens and ZVOL are £4.29.
Our multi-buy discount works across all of these: 10% off when you buy 10 or more cans, 15% off at 20 or more, 20% off at 30 or more, applied automatically in the basket. Pouch counts vary by brand, so check the can if you're comparing value per pouch. You can also browse every pouch we stock to compare prices.
Best cool mint and peppermint pouches
9mg ZYN Strong Cool Mint at £4.19 is the benchmark cool mint. It also comes in 1.5mg, 3mg, 6mg and 11mg, so you can stay on the same flavour and change only the strength. That's more strengths than any other mint we stock.
ZYN describes its Cool Mint as peppermint plus menthol. The 1.5mg, 3mg and 6mg versions are Mini pouches, and the 9mg and 11mg versions are Regular. If you like the flavour but your usual strength changes, this is the easiest mint to stick with.
10.2mg Pablo Silver Peppermint (£3.79) is one of the two mints in the Pablo Silver range we stock, alongside Spearmint. Our Pablo flavours guide lists every Pablo flavour we stock by strength.
Garant Ice Cool Peppermint (11mg, £3.99) and Aroma Essence Peppermint (13mg, £3.99) are mid-strength peppermints we stock too. The 13mg Aroma suits people already used to stronger pouches.
Best spearmint pouches: softer and sweeter
For an everyday spearmint, 10.2mg Pablo Silver Spearmint at £3.79 is our pick. Go lower with 3mg or 6mg ZYN Spearmint (£4.19), or higher with 11.2mg Denssi Spearmint (£3.99). Spearmint suits anyone who finds peppermint and ice mints a bit too sharp.
It's the same 10.2mg and £3.79 as Pablo Silver Peppermint, so it's an easy side-by-side if you're working out which style you prefer.
ZYN Spearmint comes in 3mg, 6mg and 11mg (£4.19). ZYN UK describes it as a "smooth and authentic blend of refreshing spearmint". The 3mg and 6mg versions are lower-mg options for lighter users.
Denssi Spearmint comes in 5.6mg and 11.2mg (£3.99), and ZVOL Spearmint Breeze in 6mg and 10mg (£4.29). For people already on stronger pouches, Aroma Essence Spearmint is 13mg at £3.99. Our Denssi guide compares the 5.6mg and 11.2mg ranges.
Best ice, cold and frosted mints: heavy cooling
If you're already on 10mg or more, 13.2mg Killa Frosted Mint at £3.79 is our heavy-cooling pick. To keep the mg lower, try 10mg 77 Medium Ice Mint or Freeze Mint (£3.99). Ice mints can feel colder and more intense on the gum, but that's a sensation. The nicotine is whatever the mg says.
Killa Frosted Mint sits alongside Killa Cold Mint and Cold X Mint, all at 13.2mg and £3.79. That puts it a clear step above most of the everyday mints, so it makes more sense as a move up from around 10–11mg than from 6mg. Our Killa pouches guide covers every Killa flavour we stock.
Lower-mg ice options include 77 Light Ice Mint (5mg) and Denssi Cold Mint (5.6mg). In the middle, there's 77 Medium Ice Mint and Freeze Mint (10mg), Denssi Cold Mint (11.2mg) and Camo Ice Cold Mint (12mg).
ZYN Menthol Ice (13.5mg, £4.19) pairs eucalyptus with menthol. ZYN says its 13.5mg pouches give "an intense cooling sensation throughout". Pablo Gold Frosted Mint (17mg, £3.79) is the strongest mint in our ladder and is only for people already used to strong pouches.
Best fresh, sweet and other mints
77 Medium Fresh Mint is 10mg at £3.99, and it also comes as 5mg 77 Light Fresh Mint at the same price.
77 describes Fresh Mint as a refreshing mint flavour and uses the same description for both strengths. Our guide to 77 nicotine pouches covers the Light, Medium and Ghost ranges.
Snü Fresh Mint comes in 9mg and 12mg (£4.29), and Camo Wild Mint is 6mg (£3.99). Havens Blue Line Sweet Mint (13mg, £4.29) is for people already on stronger pouches. RUSH Pro Green Mint is 11.2mg at £1.99.
Zeus Mint Rage comes in 4mg and 10mg (£4.29). Zeus describes Mint Rage as an invigorating, refreshing mint and says it's made for experienced nicotine users (zeusnicopods.com). Our Zeus guide covers its other flavours and strengths.
Mint-fruit hybrids worth a look
If plain mint feels samey, 10mg 77 Apple & Mint or Peach & Mint (£3.99) keep the freshness with a fruit edge. 3mg ZYN Apple Mint (£4.19) is the lower-mg option. Hybrids are a good way to try fruit without leaving mint behind.
77 Light Melon & Mint (5mg, £3.99) sits between the two. We also stock Iceberg Watermelon Mint Gum, but it's 35mg. That's only for people already used to 20mg+ pouches, and it's covered in the strongest pouches ranking linked above. For fruit flavours without the mint, see the flavours guide linked earlier.
Choosing a mint strength: change one thing at a time
When you switch mints, change either the mg or the cooling, not both at once. Ice, cold and frosted mints can feel more intense on the gum than the mg suggests. If you change only one thing, you'll know what made the difference.
Say you're coming from a 6mg spearmint. You could move up to a 9–11mg spearmint, such as 11.2mg Denssi Spearmint. Or you could stay around 6mg and try a colder mint, such as 5.6mg Denssi Cold Mint. Either way, step up gradually rather than jumping straight to 13mg or more. Our nicotine pouch strength guide covers every mg we stock.
These mints come in more than one strength, so you can keep the flavour and change only the mg:
| Flavour | Strengths we stock | Price per can |
|---|---|---|
| ZYN Cool Mint | 1.5mg, 3mg, 6mg, 9mg, 11mg | £4.19 |
| ZYN Spearmint | 3mg, 6mg, 11mg | £4.19 |
| 77 Fresh Mint / Ice Mint | 5mg, 10mg | £3.99 |
| Denssi Cold Mint / Spearmint | 5.6mg, 11.2mg | £3.99 |
| ZVOL Spearmint Breeze | 6mg, 10mg | £4.29 |
| Snü Fresh Mint | 9mg, 12mg | £4.29 |
| Zeus Mint Rage | 4mg, 10mg, 25mg (20mg+: caution) | £4.29 |
| Pablo Frosted Mint | 17mg Gold, 30mg Exclusive (20mg+: caution) | £3.79 |
| Aroma Peppermint / Spearmint | 13mg Essence, 35mg Attention (20mg+: caution) | £3.99 |
The 25mg, 30mg and 35mg versions are only for people already used to strong pouches, and nausea is more likely at high strengths. Whatever you choose, follow the manufacturer's guidance on the can.
Gum tingle, burn and other side effects
A tingle or burn where the pouch sits is common with mint pouches. Strong cooling combined with a higher mg can mean more gum irritation. Nicotine is addictive, and every pouch here contains it.
Other common effects include hiccups, a sore or irritated mouth, and nausea at higher strengths. Our guide to nicotine pouch side effects covers them in more detail.
A 2024 systematic review found that changes to the inside of the mouth where the pouch sits were common, and seemed linked to how many pouches people used a day and for how long (PMC11297755). A 2026 Swedish study of 18–30-year-olds noted a non-significant trend linking mint pouches to more pronounced changes (PubMed 42384425). That's a trend, not a proven link, and the research overall is limited.
If your gums get irritated, try moving the pouch to a different spot, dropping the mg or switching to a less icy mint. If the irritation persists, see a dentist or GP.
Like VELO, Nordic Spirit or White Fox mint? Try these
We don't currently stock VELO, Nordic Spirit or White Fox mint pouches. The simplest way to find a replacement is to match the style of mint you already like. Then match your usual mg using the ladder table above.
- An everyday mint: ZYN Cool Mint, ZYN Spearmint or 77 Fresh Mint.
- A peppermint: Pablo Silver Peppermint, Garant Ice Cool Peppermint or Aroma Essence Peppermint.
- A very cold mint: Killa Frosted Mint or Camo Ice Cold Mint.
Don't assume strengths line up across brands. Check the mg on your current can and pick the closest rung, rather than going by dots or labels.
FAQs
What are the best mint nicotine pouches in the UK?
The best mint nicotine pouch depends on the mint style and your usual strength. For most existing users, 9mg ZYN Strong Cool Mint (£4.19) or 10.2mg Pablo Silver Spearmint (£3.79) are solid everyday mints. 13.2mg Killa Frosted Mint (£3.79) suits people already used to stronger, icier pouches.
What's the difference between spearmint and peppermint nicotine pouches?
Spearmint nicotine pouches taste softer and sweeter, with very little menthol. Peppermint pouches are sharper and colder, because peppermint oil is high in menthol. To compare them directly, try Pablo Silver Spearmint and Pablo Silver Peppermint, both 10.2mg at £3.79.
Is mint the same as menthol in nicotine pouches?
No. Mint is the flavour, while menthol is one compound that makes things feel cool. "Ice" or "frost" pouches may get their chill from menthol or a synthetic coolant, and most brands don't say which.
Do ice mint pouches feel stronger than regular mint?
Ice mint pouches can feel colder and more intense on the gum, but that's a sensation. The mg on the can is the nicotine figure that matters. If you're trying a colder mint, keep the mg the same so only one thing changes.
What strength mint pouch should I choose if I'm used to 6mg?
If you're used to 6mg, step up gradually to around 9–11mg rather than jumping to 13mg or more. 9mg ZYN Strong Cool Mint or 10mg 77 Medium Fresh Mint are sensible options. Keep a similar mint style so only the strength changes.
Which mint pouches come in more than one strength?
ZYN Cool Mint comes in more strengths than any other mint we stock (five, from 1.5mg to 11mg), followed by ZYN Spearmint (3mg, 6mg, 11mg). Denssi Cold Mint and Spearmint come in 5.6mg and 11.2mg, 77 Fresh Mint and Ice Mint in 5mg and 10mg, and Snü Fresh Mint in 9mg and 12mg. Some ranges also have 20mg+ versions, which are only for people already used to strong pouches. The strength table above lists them all.
Why does a mint pouch make my gums tingle or burn?
A tingle where the pouch sits is common with mint pouches, and strong cooling plus a higher mg can add to the irritation. Try moving the pouch around, or switch to a lower mg or a less icy mint. If it persists, see a dentist or GP.
Do nicotine pouches contain nicotine?
Yes. Nicotine pouches are tobacco-free, but each pouch contains nicotine, and the mg on the can tells you how much. Nicotine is addictive.
What is the downside to nicotine pouches?
The main downside is that nicotine is addictive. Common side effects include hiccups, mouth or gum irritation, and nausea at high strengths. Studies have also recorded changes to the inside of the mouth where the pouch sits, and the long-term effects aren't known.
Can dentists tell if you use nicotine pouches?
Sometimes. Studies have recorded visible changes, such as white patches or redness, where the pouch sits (PMC11297755). If your dentist asks, it's a good idea to mention your pouch use.
Are nicotine pouches legal in the UK?
Yes, tobacco-free nicotine pouches can be sold to adults. As of October 2026, the Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026 treats them as nicotine products (s.51). From 29 October 2026, selling them to anyone under 18 is an offence in England and Wales (s.10). Our guide to whether nicotine pouches are legal in the UK has the detail.
Why are nicotine pouches illegal?
Nicotine pouches aren't illegal in the UK. What's banned is traditional tobacco snus, which has been illegal to sell since 1992 under the Tobacco for Oral Use (Safety) Regulations 1992. As of October 2026, the Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026 re-enacts that ban from 29 October 2026 (s.8). SnusBox sells tobacco-free nicotine pouches, not tobacco snus. For more, see is snus legal in the UK?
How many cigarettes is one ZYN equal to?
There's no reliable like-for-like figure for how many cigarettes one ZYN equals, so we won't give one. The useful measure is the mg per pouch printed on the can. That's how this guide sorts every mint.
For adult nicotine users only (18+). Contains nicotine, which is an addictive substance.
