ZYN in the UK isn't just "3s and 6s". We stock six strengths, from a 1.5mg X-Low Mini up to a 13.5mg XX-Strong Slim, and ZYN's own UK site lists a 16.5mg can on top of that. The labels on cans and listings (Low, Medium, Strong) don't line up neatly, and the dots don't always help either. Below is one chart, followed by how to read it without getting caught out.
Quick answer: ZYN in the UK runs from 1.5mg X-Low to 13.5mg XX-Strong in SnusBox stock, with Mini pouches covering 1.5–6mg and Slim pouches covering 9mg and up, all at £4.19 a can. Trust the mg figure on the can over the word on the label, move one rung at a time, and browse every strength on our ZYN brand page.
ZYN strength chart: every mg you can buy in the UK
Start with the number. ZYN's FAQ (on its Lebanon site) says plainly that "the number indicated is milligrams per pouch". A 6mg can means 6mg of nicotine in each pouch. It isn't a figure per can or per gram.
This chart only uses what's live in SnusBox stock right now, so you can buy every flavour listed. The dots and labels are ZYN's own wherever ZYN publishes them.
| mg per pouch | Dots | ZYN's label | Format | Flavours in stock at SnusBox | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5mg | None (ZYN says X-Low cans have no dots) | X-Low | Mini | Black Cherry, Cool Mint | £4.19 |
| 3mg | 1 | Low | Mini | Apple Mint, Citrus, Spearmint, Cool Mint (Mini) | £4.19 |
| 6mg | 2 | Medium | Mini | Cool Mint (Mini Strong), Coffee, Spearmint | £4.19 |
| 9mg | Typically 3 (retailer source only) | Strong | Slim | Cool Mint, Red Fruits | £4.19 |
| 11mg | 4 | X-Strong | Slim | Black Cherry, Citrus, Coffee, Spearmint, Cool Mint, Guava Spice / Chilli Guava | £4.19 |
| 13.5mg | 5 | XX-Strong | Slim | Blackcurrant Frost, Menthol Ice | £4.19 |
| 16.5mg | 6 | Max | Slim | Not stocked by SnusBox | – |
A few notes on the chart. The 16.5mg row comes from ZYN's UK strengths guide and its 16.5mg Menthol Ice product page. Guava Spice and Chilli Guava are separate listings in our stock. ZYN's Guava Spice page says it was formerly sold as Chili Guava, so expect the same product under an old and a new name.
We've left pouch counts out because sources disagree on them. Check the can for the number.
Price is simple. Every ZYN can on SnusBox costs £4.19, from 1.5mg right up to 13.5mg, so you can choose on strength and flavour alone. If you're stocking up, there's 10% off when you buy 10 or more cans, 15% off at 20 or more, 20% off at 30 or more, applied automatically in the basket. Our ZYN price guide has the full breakdown.
If you already use lighter pouches, 3mg Cool Mint Mini is a sensible lower-strength choice. ZYN names Cool Mint Mini among its most popular UK flavours. It's the small Mini format, with a straightforward mint taste.
What the dots on a ZYN can mean
The dots on the lid are a quick visual guide to strength within ZYN's own range. More dots means more nicotine per pouch. The 1.5mg X-Low has none at all.
ZYN confirms most of the ladder itself. Its UK strengths guide shows 6mg as two dots and 11mg as four, and its Lebanon strengths page adds 3mg as one dot and 1.5mg as none. On the UK product pages, 13.5mg Blackcurrant Frost is described as a "5 dot can" and 16.5mg Menthol Ice as a "6 dot can".
The gap is 9mg. We couldn't find ZYN confirming a dot count for it. Haypp's chart gives 9mg Slim three dots, but its own text also calls 6mg Mini "a 3-dot strength" and 3mg "2 dots". Either the dots are being read relative to each format or someone's made a mistake. Whichever it is, it's a good reason not to treat a neat 0–6 ladder as gospel.
ZYN's own wording isn't consistent either. The UK guide describes 6mg as showing "2 of 4 dots" and 11mg as "4 of 4", yet newer cans go up to five and six. ZYN's FAQs for some other markets still treat five dots as the top.
Don't compare dots across brands. Where other brands use dots or strength scales, they're their own systems. Our VELO strength guide explains how Velo does it.
Verdict: use the dots to spot a can at a glance, and check the mg figure before you buy.
Low, Medium, Strong: why ZYN labels don't match (and what to trust)
ZYN's UK strengths guide calls 3mg "Low" and 6mg "Medium". It gets messier from there. Retailer listings, ours included, show "3mg ZYN Medium" and "6mg ZYN Strong", and ZYN's own UK shop FAQ uses those words in places. Haypp calls 6mg "Normal" on one page and "Strong" on another. ZYN's UK site menu puts 9mg under "Shop ZYN Medium (6mg & 9mg)".
You may see 11mg cans labelled "Medium" on some retailer listings. According to ZYN's UK strong pouches page, Black Cherry, Citrus, Coffee and Spearmint are all 11mg per pouch, which ZYN calls X-Strong (four dots on the can). So go by the mg.
Old cans add to the confusion. XX-Strong used to be 12.5mg. Icy Mint became Menthol Ice and Icy Blackcurrant became Blackcurrant Frost, and both are now 13.5mg. That's according to Haypp UK, and ZYN's Blackcurrant Frost page says it was "previously known as ZYN Icy Blackcurrant". Some ZYN FAQs still say 12.5mg.
Rule of thumb: trust the mg on the can first, the dots second and the word last.
mg per pouch vs mg/g
mg per pouch is the total nicotine in one pouch, and that's the figure ZYN prints. mg/g is a concentration per gram of pouch content, so when sites such as vapeuk.co.uk list ZYN as "6 mg/g", that's a different measure and you can't compare it directly with mg per pouch.
ZYN Mini vs Slim: why the same brand can feel so different
In the UK the two formats don't overlap. According to ZYN's UK shop FAQ, Mini covers 1.5mg, 3mg and 6mg, and Slim (which ZYN calls Regular) covers 9mg and up. Going past 6mg therefore means moving to a bigger pouch as well.

ZYN describes the Slim as "slightly larger" than the Mini. On its flavours page it labels Mini "(dry)" and Regular "(rich)".
ZYN's own descriptions of the feel are useful. It says the Mini gives a "smooth and gradual release" with a "mild tingling sensation". Regular gives a "more intense nicotine release and a cooling, tingling sensation", and XX-Strong has an "intense cooling sensation throughout".
Cooling and pouch size both affect how strong a pouch feels, alongside the mg. That's why two cans one rung apart, such as 6mg Mini and 9mg Slim, can feel further apart than the numbers suggest. ZYN UK doesn't sell a Mini and a Slim at the same mg, so a like-for-like comparison isn't possible.
ZYN describes Guava Spice, formerly Chili Guava, as "a fruity taste of guava and chili". If you're already on 11mg and would rather have fruit than mint, it's the X-Strong Slim to look at.
What's the strongest ZYN in the UK?
The strongest ZYN we stock is 13.5mg XX-Strong, in Menthol Ice and Blackcurrant Frost.

ZYN's UK site also lists 16.5mg cans in Menthol Ice and Black Menthol, which we don't stock. Even here the labels wander: ZYN's strengths guide calls 16.5mg "Max", while the product page calls it "XX Strong".
Menthol Ice 13.5mg is the top of our ZYN range. ZYN says its XX-Strong pouches give an "intense cooling sensation throughout", and it describes Menthol Ice as "an intense cooling taste of eucalyptus and menthol". It's five dots on the can.
It's for people who are already comfortable with 11mg. Don't jump straight to it from a Mini.
Compared with the rest of our catalogue, ZYN tops out in the middle. Velo runs 8–10mg, Pablo Silver is 10.2mg, Cuba White Line is 10.4mg, Killa is 13.2mg and Pablo Gold is 17mg. Several brands go well past 20mg, but higher isn't better. Unless you're already used to strong pouches, those aren't a sensible next step, and side effects become more likely as strength goes up. Our strength and flavour guide covers how to compare brands.
How to pick your ZYN strength: step up, step down or sideways
This advice is for people who already use nicotine. Start from the mg you use now, not from the number you think you should be on.
Step up one rung at a time. Go from 6mg to 9mg, not from 6mg to 13.5mg. Going from 6mg to 9mg also moves you from Mini to Slim, so expect a noticeable change.
Step down the same way. Go from 11mg to 9mg, then to 6mg. If you're getting hiccups, gum irritation or nausea, drop a rung until you find a strength that's comfortable.
Move sideways to keep a flavour. ZYN says it "offers consistent flavour profiles across strengths", so you can keep the taste and change the mg. In our stock, Cool Mint comes at 1.5, 3, 6, 9 and 11mg. Spearmint comes at 3, 6 and 11mg, Citrus at 3 and 11mg, Coffee at 6 and 11mg, and Black Cherry at 1.5 and 11mg.
| If you use… | Try next… | Same flavour available |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5mg Mini | 3mg Mini (up) | Cool Mint |
| 3mg Mini | 6mg Mini (up) | Cool Mint, Spearmint |
| 6mg Mini | 9mg Slim (up) | Cool Mint |
| 9mg Slim | 11mg Slim (up) | Cool Mint |
| 11mg Slim | 13.5mg Slim (up) | No direct match: Menthol Ice or Blackcurrant Frost |
| 13.5mg Slim | 11mg Slim (down) | No direct match: Cool Mint is the closest minty option |
| 11mg Slim | 9mg Slim (down) | Cool Mint |
| 9mg Slim | 6mg Mini (down) | Cool Mint |
Our 6mg ZYN stock is all mint or coffee. If you're coming up from 6mg and want fruit, 9mg Red Fruits is the first Slim rung to try. It's the lowest Slim strength, so it's the smallest step up from 6mg Mini.
When you try a new strength, placement and timing matter too. Our guide on how to use ZYN pouches covers both.
UK vs US ZYN strengths: why Reddit says 3mg and 6mg only
Plenty of UK searchers land on American threads saying ZYN only comes in 3mg and 6mg. ZYN's US FAQ does say standard ZYN comes in those two strengths. The same page also says "All varieties of ZYN Ultra come in 9 mg and 11 mg strengths."
When US blogs such as Prilla, or Reddit threads, call 6mg the strongest ZYN, they're describing the US range. That isn't what's on sale here.
The UK range is wider: 1.5mg to 13.5mg in our stock, and 16.5mg listed on ZYN's UK site. If a post says the top is 6mg, check whether it's talking about America.
Nicotine strength and side effects
Nicotine is addictive. ZYN's own UK pages say its products are "not risk free" and "provide nicotine, which is addictive".
Common side effects include hiccups, gum irritation and nausea, and they become more likely as strength goes up. ZYN pouches are tobacco-free: ZYN says the nicotine is derived from tobacco, but the pouches contain no tobacco leaf.
Follow the guidance on your can and don't use more than directed. For more detail, read our posts on nicotine pouch side effects and ZYN ingredients and long-term effects.
FAQs
What strengths does ZYN come in in the UK?
At SnusBox you can buy 1.5mg X-Low, 3mg, 6mg, 9mg Strong, 11mg X-Strong and 13.5mg XX-Strong, all at £4.19 a can. ZYN's UK site also lists a 16.5mg can, which we don't currently stock.
Which ZYN is stronger, 3 or 6?
The 6mg has twice the nicotine per pouch of the 3mg. Both are Mini pouches, and ZYN shows two dots on 6mg against one on 3mg. If you're used to 3mg, step up gradually.
What mg is ZYN XX Strong?
Current XX-Strong cans (Menthol Ice and Blackcurrant Frost) are 13.5mg per pouch and show five dots. Older cans were 12.5mg, and ZYN's site also uses "XX Strong" for a 16.5mg can, so go by the mg figure.
What mg is ZYN Medium strength?
ZYN's UK guide calls 6mg "Medium". Retailers, including us, also use "Medium" on 3mg and on some 11mg listings. Trust the mg printed on the can, not the word.
What do the dots on a ZYN can mean?
More dots means more nicotine per pouch. The scale runs from no dots on 1.5mg to five on 13.5mg, and six on ZYN's 16.5mg. ZYN's UK guide describes some strengths "out of 4" and retailers don't always agree, so use the dots as a quick guide and the mg figure as the real check.
Is ZYN Mini weaker than ZYN Slim?
In the UK, Minis cover 1.5–6mg and Slims cover 9mg and up, so in practice the Minis are the lower strengths. ZYN says the Slim is slightly larger and gives a more intense release with more cooling.
Do all ZYN flavours come in every strength?
No. Cool Mint and Spearmint span several strengths, but in our stock Red Fruits is 9mg only, and Blackcurrant Frost and Menthol Ice are 13.5mg only. The chart above shows what's available at each mg.
Does stronger ZYN cost more?
No. Every ZYN can at SnusBox is £4.19 whatever the strength. Our ZYN price guide has the full breakdown.
Why is US ZYN mostly 3mg and 6mg?
ZYN's US FAQ lists standard pouches at 3mg and 6mg, with ZYN Ultra at 9mg and 11mg. US forum threads describe that range, which is narrower than the UK one.
How many cigarettes is a 6mg ZYN equal to?
There's no reliable like-for-like figure. The mg in a pouch is the amount of nicotine in it, not the amount your body absorbs, and absorption varies from person to person.
Is 20 ZYNs a day too much?
Follow the usage guidance on your can and don't use more than directed. Nicotine is addictive, and side effects such as nausea become more likely with heavier use.
Do you spit or swallow with ZYN?
Neither. Place the pouch under your lip for around 30 minutes, as ZYN advises, then put the used pouch in the lid compartment and bin it later. Don't swallow the pouch. There's more in our guide on how to use ZYN.
Can dentists tell if you use ZYN?
Some users notice gum irritation where the pouch sits, and a dentist may spot that. It's sensible to mention nicotine use at check-ups. Our post on nicotine pouch side effects has more.
For adult nicotine users only (18+). Contains nicotine, which is an addictive substance.
